In London, there are a variety of buildings, monuments and corners with great interest and a lot of history to tell. Many of them are famous around the world, while others are less well known but no less spectacular. One of these places is the Alexandra Palace, also known as “Palace of the people” and is in the North of the city.

Within the grounds there is a spectacular park of more than 30,000 square meters, as well as an impressive Victorian Palace which is situated on a hill. It is a recreational and cultural space open to the public and which are often hold exhibitions, workshops, concerts and activities of various kinds. It is a different place which is worth visiting.

Its history

This Palace opened its doors in 1973 and initially thought it as a palace that belonged to the English people, to bring nobility to a more humble social class. Two weeks after opening, a fire destroyed half of the Palace, keeping only standing exterior walls. It took two years to rebuild it and open its doors to the public again. In all these years, many have wanted to buy it to make hotels and leisure centers, but always had the public protests, so no transaction was carried out.

Interesting information

Today, at the Alexandra Palace all kinds of cultural events are held, and there are also many people approaching to it just to spend the day in their gardens, especially for a picnic. This fantastic place can be reached by train from Moorgate (from Monday to Friday) or from Kings Cross (any day, making transshipment at Finsbury Park). Also be can go by subway, catching the Picadilly line to Wood Green, where you take the W3 bus coming up the hill from the Palace.

The markets are some of the most visited places in London, all very varied and where you can find all kinds of wonders and curiosities. Some are thematic or a little of everything, and many of them find clothes, shoes, antiques, art, food and a long list of things that you can get much game.

The Camden Town is considered the best market in the city, and as we talked to him a couple of days, today we will focus on others that are also very interesting. If you are staying in London as long as we recommend stopping by one of them even if there is a long time. We have visited some and we can assure you absolutely worth it.

Portobello Market

Although Camden Town is spectacular, it is my favorite market, perhaps by how much we like the movie “Notting Hill”, which came out several times to live there its protagonist. It is a market where you can find a little of everything and at different prices. It held every Saturday from morning until afternoon. It is also very interesting to visit the shops behind the stalls.

Borough Market

It is near the famous Tower Bridge and is a market where you can taste all kinds of foods and ingredients from Britain and elsewhere in the world. Almost all stations have free tastings, so it will be great to take a leisurely stroll while you’re testing the products that catch your eye. In addition, there is a part in workshops taught cooking, children’s drawing or are shows like traditional dances, concerts and plays.

Covent Garden

It is close to the Royal Opera, in the heart of the city. In Victorian times it was a fruit and vegetable market, and today still charming. Over time, the market also has become a small shopping mall you can find clothes, jewelry, food, decorations or tea. There are a lot of lives both day and night as it hosts concerts and various street performances.

Brick Lane

It is close to Liverpool Street and is the perfect market for lovers of vintage. There you will find a multitude of decorative objects, furniture and fabrics that still retain their charm as much as the years pass. They also have delicacies.

Spitalfields Market

It is close to Brick Lane and has many antiques, art galleries, food and various artistic creations. There you will find anything related to art.

Whoever reads fly travel usually knows our passion for London; it is wonderful city where we lived for almost a year and has so much to offer that was not enough time to fully discover. Among the many things you can do in the English capital, definitely should not miss the opportunity to go shopping, whatever your budget.

Like any other city, in London you can buy all sorts of things and different prices, either in luxury shopping in stores “normal” or markets. If you like shopping, you’re definitely in the perfect city to indulge your passion.

Markets

In London there are many markets, and two of them are a must: Camden Town and Portobello Market. The first was held in Camden and Sundays, from bright and early and even in the afternoon. There you will find everything you could imagine; from musical instruments to clothing, accessories, jewelry, crafts … The Portobello is in the area of the same name, in Notting Hill. Held on Saturday and find everything.

Department store

Many department stores and malls, and Harrods take the cake. It is spectacular, the most luxurious department store we’ve ever been. Only enter there is an amazing experience, and although as a rule everything is expensive, find some stuff at a good price to at least take a memory of having been there.

Oxford Street

If what you like is to visit many stores, Oxford Street is the best place for it. There you will find numerous shops, sports, music, toys … and even a spectacular jelly shop that will leave you breathless. You can spend all day perfectly from store to store; there is even a spectacular Zara store, in several plants.

Cruise ships are increasingly fashionable, not only where you can explore several cities but also you can do in one city and that only lasts a few hours. In Paris, a cruise on the Seine is almost a must for any tourist, and London seems to do a cruise on the Thames is starting to become something they do all the tourists.

Everyone knows that in London there are many places of interest to visit, but it is worth spending one hour in this small cruiser, and seeing the city from another perspective. The Thames splits the city in two and is the perfect way to learn the most important parts. Has 346 kilometers long and not just go through London but also does it for Gloucestershire, Oxford and Eton, emptying into the North Sea.

So are

There are different types of cruises, from those that are purely tourist to the most special lunch or dinner. In addition, there are other cruise night and where dances are organized. During the holiday season there are several special cruises, especially the day of Christmas and New Year. Are cruises from 30 minutes to 3 hours, with different prices, so you can do that best fits your finances.

Tours

Cruises depart from different points, the four main piers has the Thames: Westminster, Tower and Greenwich Waterloo. You can hop on and off at the stop you want, so you can use it not only for a walk but also as transportation. There is a guide that will tell the story of the monuments to be seen, as the Tower of London, London Bridge, the old battle cruiser HMS Belfast, Modren Tate, the London Eye, St. Paul’s Cathedral or Big Ben.

We all know that we are in crisis and that we must spend as little as possible in whatever we do, although it is clear that we must make some quirk occasionally, provided that we can afford. Despite the crisis, people are still traveling, although less so, and always looking for destinations where you have many things to learn and also can do several activities for free.

London is the European city most visited by tourists from around the world, and has so many attractions that you could be there for months and still not see everything. Although there everything is usually very expensive, there are many things that are free, so you can do a lot without spending a single pound. Takes note of the most interesting:

Museums

There are several museums have free admission, either every day or on some specific day and time. Most interesting are the British Museum (the oldest museum in the world) or the National Gallery, which is the most important museum in London and has masterpieces of Western art. It is also free and very interesting collection of the National Maritime Museum boat.

Squares

Spend some hours in one of the many places in the city that is very interesting because it will have many buildings and monuments to see. The most famous Trafalgar Square, which is also the point of New Year’s Eve celebration or concentration when there, is some event or sports celebration.

Parks

Hyde Park is my favorite part of London, a piece of nature in the middle of a city full of traffic, stress and buildings. You can have a picnic on the lawn, walking in the road along the lake, playing sports or sit and read for a while. A very special place, especially if you go with your partner or children. Also worth visiting the Queen Mary Rose Garden, the best rose garden in the city.

Markets

Take a stroll through the markets of London’s most important addition to free, compulsory. The most famous is that of Portobello, Camden Town and Borough Market. Your visit is free, but obviously falls into the temptation to buy some things, but not why. Although you do not have budget, these markets are a sight so you should visit them equally.

Buckingham Palace

No doubt that the palace where the Queen lives is one of most famous and spectacular buildings of the city, and you can not miss the famous “Changing of the Guard”. Hours vary depending on the time when you go, so get close and see what time it is.

Canterbury is one of the most beautiful cities in England and interesting, with many monuments and attractions in both landscape and heritage of great names of history that lie there, as Thomas Becket. A city where you have many things to do, many places to shop and many restaurants and bars where you can sample the local cuisine, certainly three things we all want when choosing a city to meet, either in a long trip or a getaway.

It is a city with so much charm that has a rich history and is closely linked to English Christianity since in 597 Pope St. Augustine did there a conversion. In fact, some of the most interesting places in the city are religious, as St. Augustine’s Abbey, the Cathedral or the Church of San Martin. To learn all about the history of Canterbury, it is best to visit the Roman Museum, with exhibits of which you will become an expert in the city.

Art and culture
If you like art, the two best places to enjoy are the Lilford Gallery and Sidney Cooper Gallery. In both you can find not only exhibitions but also other temporary permanent addition to lectures and workshops. If you love the theater, in the Marlowe Theatre performances always, the best that come to the city and can be plays, operas, ballet, bands, concerts…

The historical part
If you like to discover the most historic and iconic views of cities in Canterbury can not leave without visiting the shrine of St. Thomas Becket (from there are also stunning views), the Abbey or Herne Bay, which is the area in which there are several beaches and many entertainment venues. This area is particularly attractive in summer as many activities are organized on beaches.

Eating in Canterbury
As in any city you visit, here also prove interesting culinary specialties. Canterbury’s cuisine is very creative and inspired many other cuisines to create their dishes. One of the best restaurants in the city is “The Goods Shed”, which is the one with more products and dishes, always go with what best each season.

Clearly, London is the most important tourist destination of England and that anyone who travels to that country goes first to the capital and not usually has much time to visit other destinations. It is also advisable to visit other places, especially the northern part of the country because there are many cities and towns that have a vested interest.

Today we would like to write about some of the most interesting cities of northern England, all with great charm and with a lot to offer any visitor. These are cities such as Manchester, York and Sheffield, all known, in the case of Manchester very famous, but also remain in the background to the role of London.

Manchester Tourism
It is certainly the best known of the three, especially for their football teams. It is also one of the English cities where more students from around the world are already having one of the top universities in England. Among the most interesting places to visit is the legendary Old Trafford, the stadium where he plays for Manchester United. There are very showy typical houses, cobbled and very nice.

In the city center there are many interesting monuments, shops and pubs that give so much life to the city. There is a ride that has a huge Ferris wheel from which you can see the whole city at your feet. If you like parks and natural places, you can not miss the Peak District , one of the largest and most important parks in the country and you can see many animals, plants, hiking and climbing up.

York Tourism
Another interesting place you can not miss in your route to the north of the country. It is a beautiful walled city that was inhabited by Vikings, who left an indelible mark that makes it one of the most beautiful cities in the entire country. There are many spectacular stately buildings, and you know the whole story in the Viking Museum, which is the museum of the world’s most important issue. York can not leave without trying their typical “fish and chips”.

Visiting Sheffield
The last of the cities that we recommend on this route is also one of the most beautiful and famous England. Was especially famous for some years since the film was shot there “Full Monty”, a hit worldwide. It is connected to Manchester by Peak District, the natural park that we mentioned earlier and that belongs to the two cities. There is plenty of nightlife as it has two universities, which is one of the cities with more students from around the country.

The capital of England, London, is famous not only for its bars and foggy weather, but some of the finest restaurants and exclusive European cuisine and international. Traveling through the city, visiting the various monuments, we stop at the best gastronomic London.

The first restaurant of our choice is the Murano, the North corner of Circular Road Stonebridge. The first thing to note is the modern decor and style of the restaurant, bright and spacious, ideal for dinners with elegance in the center of the city. The head chef, Angela Hartnett has been awarded several times for care, dishes and general appearance of the establishment. Specializing in Italian cuisine, the Murano is a real gem.

Another facility to visit is the Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in Royal Hospital Street number 68. There, the traditional dishes of British food as well as several varieties of international dishes are available at moderate prices and an elegant presentation. Windows, flowers and a subtle use of colors for a feeling of spaciousness in the living room. Attention first-class chefs by Mark Askew, Gordon Ramsay, Jean-Claude Breton and Clare Smyth.

The variety of dishes is divided into menus, either a la carte dishes from different stations or the recommendations of the cooks, the flavors and colors of Restaurant Gordon Ramsay easily become forgettable occasions. Ideal to go with friends, good food, laughter and good times in the city of London.

If we speak of the great world tourism destinations that can offer us, England is one of those places that at some point in our lives we must visit. The story was one of the great powers of the world to the emergence of the United States, and one of the strongest colonial past.

Today, the legacy tour is awesome. If we speak of natural landscapes, one of the sites that we know is the Ashdown Forest, home to an incredible natural world, of great beauty and tranquility to enjoy a good family day. The Dartmoor National Park is one of the largest fields of England, where nature and ecology is in contact with humans. Here we go valleys, mountains and lakes, all so beautiful and peaceful.

If we depart from the natural paradises Inglaterr to, we must go directly to the city, where despite changing the natural environment, the attractions are equally unforgettable. For example, a list of our sites of interest we record a visit to the Tower of London, the Big Ben, the Buckingham Palace, the Windsor Castle and Madame Tussauds.

Here you do not complete the attractions of London, it is this wonderfully cosmopolitan city we know the Chinatown known as Chinatown, the Great Zoo London, the Royal Opera House, the Kensington Palace and Garden and the great dome. The attractions of England and London are many more but these shall know them on our next trip, you have no desire to try their food at the best restaurants ?.
