Construction of towers, architects compete address and imagination to develop an impressive monument. Here are the ranking of the 10 largest towers of the world. Among them you will find that some have already been completed while others are still under construction or temporarily stopped.

In the first position, you have Burj Khalifa, the great tower of 828 meters. Located in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, Tower of Khalifa is the huge skyscraper in the world. Steel and concrete skyscrapers this weighs more than 110 000 tonnes. It took six years (from 2004 to 2010) to develop this huge architectural challenge.

The Tower of Russia was to be the second tallest tower in the world and the largest in Europe with 612.2 meters. But the construction in Moscow of the 118-story building, normally scheduled for completion in 2012 was stopped.

At the third position, you have the new TV tower in Guangzhou, the Guangzhou Tower, which rises to 610 meters. This magnificent tower that contains within it, among other things, a museum and a shopping center, is composed of pretty drawn tubes.

Chicago Spire would be the fourth highest tower in the world. Also called “the arrow of Chicago”, the tower of helical shape was expected to be 609.6 meters high with 150 floors. However due to the economic crisis of 2008, work stopped. So far it remains unclear if this project goes forward.

In tribute to the victims of the Wall Street Center and to replace the twin towers of Manhattan, One World Trade Center or Freedom Tower comes in fifth position. This tower scheduled for completion in 2013 was designed by famed Chicago architects: Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. It will measure 514 meters in height.

In 2014, the Dubai Pentominium is placed at the sixth position. This huge tower that will rise to nearly 516 meters high in the near future will be one of the biggest attractions in the world.

In seventh position with 508 meters in height, you have the majestic blue bamboo, the Taipei 101 Tower. It has 101 floors and five basement levels. Since the island of Taipei is frequently subject to earthquakes, manufacturers have thought of setting up a steel ball of 660 tons at the 92nd floor to avoid swinging and fall of this great tour.

Dubai and its excesses offers another famous Burj Al Alam World Tower 109 or floors opened in 2010. This skyscraper in ice and in steel reinforced, that shelters offices, restaurants, hotels, points in eighth place with 501 meters high.

With 492 meters high and 101 floors, the Shanghai World Financial Center is in ninth position. It took 10 years (1997-2007) to build this tower commonly referred to as the “Wall Street” of China.

In tenth place, we still in China, Hong Kong specifically, the International Commerce Center (ICC Tower). The famous tower at the top of the parallelepiped constructed from 2007 to 2010 as 484 meters.
